Workouts

I used to be an early morning gym rat!  Then my daughter came around and finding time to hit the gym became a challenge. Once we moved and bought our house the first thing I purchased was a treadmill.  I’ve also found that with very little gym equipment (sometimes none at all), you can get a fast and hard workout in without leaving your own home!  My favorite form of exercise is running.  I’m happiest when I’m on a long run with nothing but my music and my thoughts.  However, I’m not totally crazy and don’t run during the extreme winter months, so when it’s dark and cold I head down to my basement to get my heart rate up and get a good sweat in.  It’s truly the best way to start the day!

I just signed up for my first half marathon. I’ve worked out for 15 years, but I added running about 3 years ago. I’ve done several races–5k’s, 8k’s, and 10k’s–so I’m looking forward to finishing a half marathon and getting that little 13.1 sticker to put on the back of my car. I work out 6 days a week–I run twice a week and on the other four days, I do fitness DVD’s or classes like Boot Camp. I looked at this list and had to add a couple–the Supreme 90-Day series is really great. It is made up of 10 really effective DVD’s, some short, some longer. You can easily get a sweat-pouring workout in in 25 minutes with this series, and it’s REALLY cheap. I got mine for $4 at Big Lots, but I’ve seen it for about $15 online, too. Either way, for what you get, paying the full $15 is worth it. I also love anything Jillian Michaels, but mostly her 30-Day Shred DVD and her Ripped in 30 DVD. They’re both made up of a series of quick workouts, so you can pick and choose on days with not a lot of time, or you can combine a couple for days when you have more time but want a good workout at home. They are all tough enough to do alone and still get a really challenging, awesome workout in. I love your blog! Here’s mine: http://www.trashyblog.com
