Winners, FitFluential March Miles and Tasting Spring!

Hi Friends!

Happy Monday!  We are back into the swing of things over here.  No more sleeping “in” until 6:30 or 7am.  It was glorious while it lasted but at this point we  are starting  to count down the days until summer vacation.  With changes in my job this last year I am so excited that for the first time in about 7 years I am going to have a summer vacation!  I can’t wait… but first I suppose we should have Spring here.  We keep having 1-2 day teasers and then the temps go back down!  I’m trying to stay positive since I know it’s just a matter of time!  Yesterday was AMAZING!

We had a great weekend over here!  Lots of family time too and an amazing date night with friends!  Not to mention our fun day at the museum on Friday.Photo: A day at Science and Industry! Pure family fun.

Saturday morning I got the chance to bond once again with my treadmill for another longish run!  Still not hitting the double digits yet but I am happy to have met the March FitFlutential challenge and ran over 100 miles!  105.15 total miles to be exact after my Sunday run!

Sara and I got out to get her some new kicks for spring since she has been living in boots this winter!  We had a date at Starbucks after!  Love my coffee chats with my little lady!

Sunday marked the official kick off to the Chicago running season with the Shamrock Shuffle 8k.  I stopped running this race about 7-8 years ago.  It’s way to crowded for my taste.  Do you prefer small races or like large ones.

With no races on the calendar until the Chicagoland Spring 1/2 Marathon in May I am getting antsy to get out and run!

I had some time on Sunday to get a little food prep completed!  I’ve got a busy week and I know that 5:15 wake ups will be a bit harder so I wanted to get as much done today to make the mornings go a bit smoother!  Another amazing soup from the Oh She Glows cookbook and a batch of our favorite cookies.

I did my Sunday morning interval class at The Dailey Method followed by a glorious afternoon run OUTSIDE!  We even cleaned up and fired up the grill for dinner!  Grilled veggies, sweet potatoes and some chicken.  Our taste of spring was spectacular!!  Yesterday was the perfect end to a great week or a perfect start to the upcoming week… I guess it depends which way you look at it!

There are also winners that I have to announce!

The winner of the Namaste Gluten Free prize pack is #603 Calli Welsch

  1. I am TOTALLY with you on the small races! I lived in Chicago for 2 years, and while I enjoyed participated in races like the Shamrock Shuffle, Chicago Marathon, and Hot Chocolate 15K, I always preferred the smaller ones because they allowed me to focus on my own race rather than the hubbub. I’ve heard the Chicagoland Spring 1/2 is a good one – good luck! And congrats on 100+ miles!

I gave myself a mile goal for March and remembered why I don’t do that very often – it was hard to hit the goal and I tend to push through and run when I should back off.
Glad y’all had a great spring break!!
