WIAW: On the Run and on the Move!

Happy WIAW!  November keeps on trucking along!  I had another jam packed day!

What I Ate Wednesday: FALL into Good Habits

For starters I had a great 5 mile treadmill run before Sara woke up!  I value and NEED my workout time in the morning and while it would be great to sleep in 6 or 6:30 that’s not an option if I want to workout!  Do you workout before the sun rises or find other time during your day?

Post workout all I wanted was breakfast!

Don’t be fooled by the one piece of bread! I had two pieces of the gluten free Chia Chia from Silver Mills!  Sara and I are both going through this crazy fast.  The pieces are smaller then tradition bread and pack a powerful punch with 5g of fiber and 3g of protein per 80 calorie slice!  I’m loving my bread with almond butter, cinnamon and bananas!  SOOO good and so filling post workout!

Sara and I ran out of the house after I got ready for the day.  I dropped her at school ran over to the Hubs school so I could do a quick coaching session with some of the staff on implementing a new Exercise Connection workout program in their fitness room!  Finished that and had 1 hour till I needed to be back at Sara’s school for career day.  I maximized the hour and got some Hanuakkah and birthday shopping done! It’s amazing what I can get done in just one hour when I am by myself!  Anyone else feel that way?

Then I got to spend the later part of my morning with 20 pre-schoolers where I taught them all about healthy eating and fitness. I also had the chance to workout with all of them!  It was filled with laughs and giggles!  Those kids worked their butts off!  I had the time of my life.  An awesome, fun and exhausting hour!  Loved working out with those little one!  So much energy!

Then I got in my car and was STARVING.  I had less then an hour to get home and and get the house cleaned for a new client!

Organic honey crisp apple!  YES PLEASE

Then an hour with a new client and finally time to breathe and LUNCH!

Left over veggie quinoa chili!  I swear this gets better each day!

A little down time for me to review for my presentation that I am doing tomorrow at the Illinois State Physical Education conference and some ACE Health and Fitness studying!

Around 3 I got hungry from all that ACE reading so I made myself a snack of celery and homemade hummus!

At 3:45 my doorbell rang and it was the lovely ladies behind a great and local company called the Red Wall Kitchen!  I’ll tell you more about their gluten free, healthy baked goodness soon but they stopped by to hand delivery treats and snacks!

I had to try one of their muffin bites!!  Yum!!  The family is going to love these for the next couple of days!

I picked up Sara and we came home to prepare dinner!  Another kitchen creation of all wonderful fall seasonal foods!  I made this massaged kale and butternut squash quinoa salad!!  Recipe to come soon!!  I’m on a roll these days in the kitchen!

After dinner we couldn’t help but sample more of the Red Wall goodies!  This time we went for the doughnuts!  AMAZING!!  The chocolate oat baked one was HEAVENLY so fresh and yummy!

The evening was spent watching the Blacklist and getting ready for the rest of the week!  I need to start getting my Thanksgiving/Hanukkah feast menu in order!  So much to do!!

How was your day?  Have you been spending more time in your kitchen as the weather turns cooler?

I haven’t had a lot of time to spend in the kitchen lately – I’ve been making great use of my crock pots.
And – yes, I work out at 5am every day – last week I gook a few days off and stayed in bed till 6 – it was awesome but I missed working out.

Happy WIAW! I wish I had more time to spend in my kitchen. Between a toddler and a full-time job, time in the kitchen is mostly based on whatever is necessary at the moment. I cook dinner every night, but I wish I had more uninterrupted time for baking and other “fun” stuff.

  3. I am spending way too much time baking/cooking lately. Partly because I’m not running as much, was sick and it’s freezing out!
