WIAW- Making Smarter Choices!

Happy Wednesday!!  The week is 1/2 over!!  YEAH

While Laura’s 21 Runner Reset doesn’t start until next Monday I am working on making smarter choices after the holidays and vacation!  The fridge is packed with health snacks and I did lots of cutting and chopping on Sunday to avoid making poor choices.  I’m linking up for WIAW the first of 2016!

I got up at 5am… on my own.  It typically happens!  Since B is sleeping through the night for the most I have to pump for a few minutes before I workout!  By 5:20 I was on the mill for 3.1 miles, 13 pushups (January Pushup Challenge) and a 2 minute plank!  I wish I had more time for longer workouts but I’m grateful for my 5am ME TIME…

Breakfast was prepped the night before…another habit I am working to get back into.  I made pumpkin chia pudding.  (1/2 cup pumpkin, 1/2 cup homemade almond milk, 1 1/2 T of Chia seeds and some cinnamon!) … So good and so easy!

I had an early morning meeting at Sara’s school and then it was into the office for most of the day!  I spent the morning lesson planning for some new classes I am teaching this semester and had a quick morning snack while at my desk.

Lunch will be the same every day this week, which doesn’t bother me.  I usually prefer to make a big batch of soup on Sunday’s so it’s one less meal to think about!  This was a crock pot lentil soup filled with kale and lots of goodness.  I also had some hummus and veggies on the side.

I had an afternoon meeting at the community college that I teach at on Friday’s and missed my 3pm snack.  One of my goals in the January reset is to really watch myself around the 3-4pm hour.  Mindless snacking tends to occur then and we eat dinner around 5pm so it’s really unnecessary!  I was still hungry when I got home around 4pm and had a small handful of almonds.  No picture since the 4-6pm hour in our house is pretty busy!

I ran to Trader Joe’s in between meetings yesterday to pick up a few things and was SOOO excited when I found these back in stock!  There were 7 and I took all of them.  I haven’t seen them in the stores in over 6 months so who knows when they will show up again!

Taco Tuesday for dinner with grass fed meat.  Taco’s are always a hit in our house and since I needed some extra veggies.  Instead of brown rice which I prepared for the Hubs and Sara I used some of the riced cauliflower, peppers and put it all over a big bed of organic spinach!

After dinner the Hubs tackles the kitchen while I play with the kids for a bit before bathing and getting the little man ready for bed.  He loves his baths!

I’m in denial that he is turning 1 in a few weeks.  It’s probably the reason I haven’t done his 11 month post!

After Sara went to bed it was time for blogging, tea and the return of Chicago Med!  I’m glad some of my shows are back but I still need to finish up Homeland, The Affair and I want to watch Making a Murderer because I’ve heard amazing things about it.  SO much TV to watch and SOOO little time!

How was your day? What are you watching these days?

  3. I can’t even with your son’s bedtime hair. Baby hair is the CUTEST. My son has SO MUCH hair that I really need to get cut, but I just can’t. So basically bedtime hair is messy all the time hair, now. Also, I need to try out chia pudding once and for all. I keep forgetting to refill my chia seed stash!

Yay for a day of good eats! I haven’t had chia pudding in a while – need to get back on that. I have so many chia seeds – just not any of the other ingredients! I just started watching the Man in the High Castle (Amazon), Veep and of course To Catch a Murderer on Netflix. Always need new shows to stream!
