WIAW: Eats to Close out The 30 Clean… and now what?

Happy WIAW!

It’s been a few weeks since I joined up with all the foodies out their on the blog world!  Today is really day 1 post the end of The 30 Clean.  That’s right I made it and you know what, it was really EASY!  The Hubs was not home last night to take “AFTER” pics but I dropped about 4 lbs and lost a lot of bloat! I wasn’t trying to lose weight and I definitely ATE plenty during the last 30 days!  Seriously, saying goodbye to dairy, grains, soy, corn, sugars and all that packaged garage stuff was wonderful.  Lately, I have been getting a “now what?” question from family and friends.  Before we get to that here are some shots of some of my AMAZING eats over the last week!

Breakfast:  For the most part was egg “muffins” usually paired with a little fruit, veggies or sweet potatoes.  Since I was adding extra carbs last week I had a little more fruit!  I did enjoy the occasional smoothie during the last month but I learned how to really pump my smoothies up with the right amount of healthy fats to keep me full from breakfast until lunch!

Of course if it wasn’t for The 30 Clean I would have not have discovered my love for cold sweet potatoes, almond butter and cinnamon pre-long run!

This was one of my FAVORITE combos!

Zoodles, topped with Oh She Glows Kale and Hemp Pesto,  cherry tomatoes, artichokes and balsamic vinegar!  Such an incredibly filling meal!  I also topped it once with a 1/2 a turkey burger for added protein!

Grilled some plantains on Saturday night for extra carbs before my race!  Have you ever grilled plantains!  So easy and so amazing!  I’ll the post the simple recipe soon!20140531-193839-70719743.jpg

Turkey burgers with veggies and sweet potatoes.  Bonus veggies of grilled artichokes!  Ever try that on your grill?  Simply amazing!20140601-200833-72513007.jpg

Finally, this picture got a lot of feedback on Facebook!20140601-200833-72513818.jpgHomemade electrolyte drink. 3 cups of raw coconut water, 1 cup water, 1 cup of strawberries, 1 cup of ice and 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt.  Blend and enjoy!  It was so good!  I enjoyed tho wall day on Saturday pre-race!

So now that The 30 Clean has come to a close, many people are asking, “Now what?”  Well for starters, I plan to remain gluten free and dairy free and free of all packaged and refined sugars.  I also plan to continue to not have my snacks, since my body has adjusted.  I’ll also keep the soy and the corn and corn products out of my body as well!  Just no need for it.

Should I CHOOSE to indulge in something sweet it will truly be a treat.  I don’t miss sugar.  There were plenty of times over the last 30 days that I found myself surrounded by chocolate fountains, cakes, goodies and more and I don’t miss it.  So why get my body re-addictied to sugar!?!

Eventually, I will re-introduce whole grains like buckwheat, quinoa, oats and perhaps rice but I’ve learned how to live just fine without it.

Since the Hubs and I are traveling next month to Europe I don’t plan to uphold all of these rules while away because well… I’m going to be in Spain and Italy for the first time in my life and I plan to enjoy it!

The good news is that I have already been in touch with the gals at The 30 Clean and plan to get on board for the challenge that kicks off after Labor Day.  The good news is if this is something you are thinking about trying the next challenge kicks off July 14! Early registration ends June 22nd!  So sign up here!  The Facebook support and 24/7 support is unbelievable!!

As far as I am concerned today is just day 31 of The 30 Clean!

Have you ever tried an elimination diet?  How did you feel after it was over?

I’ve used elimination on several different foods and it has worked well for me. Why get re-addicted is so true! If I eat sweets it just makes me crave it! That’s not to say I will never eat sweets but I’m so much more aware of how eating sweets make me want to eat more sweets when otherwise I really don’t miss it. Does that make any sense? ha!

  5. We did the Whole30 a couple years ago, and I felt so good during it, and the experience taught me a lot about what my body can and cannot tolerate. Unfortunately, I’ve gotten more lax about certain things and so am hoping to do something similar after baby comes, to help me pinpoint the things causing me discomfort (and other unpleasant digestive symptoms 😉
