WIAW: Down for the Count

Happy Wednesday- Although yesterday was pretty rough.  For the first time in I don’t even know how long I have been plagued with a bad cold.  What’s worse is that on top of the cold I also developed some bad laryngitis.  Yesterday was my day with Sara and there is nothing fun about feeling like garbage and hardly being able to talk when you have a day with your little one.

Spooky Snacks and Healthy Halloween Treats

I seriously can’t believe tomorrow is Halloween and then it’s November!  Weather is looking really bad and rainy here on Halloween.  Big time BOO to that! Sara’s been looking forward to Halloween since Costco starting selling costumes.  If I remember correctly that was about AUGUST!

Let’s get to my eats yesterday.  Afterall it’s WIAW.  Thanks to Jenn for hosting! You’ll notice a theme of tea in many pictures!

7:00am.  That’s just about the time I got out of bed!  I skipped the workout after being up from 3:00am- 4:30am because I couldn’t breathe!  Good times indeed!  Drank some tea, ate some pumpkin granola and took some DayQuill!  Thanks to my mom for delivering me the drugs as I had nothing in the house!

Image 3Sara and I stayed home all day and morning.  We painted pumpkins, watched TV and chilled.  I worked hard to preserve my voice.  It wasn’t easy!

9:30!  Special delivery from So Delicious!  Special it was!  Check out all the love and don’t worry I’ll be giving some of those coupons away during my blogoversary special giveaway week!


10:30 I made myself a smoothie with Green Vibrance, fruit and almond milk.

12:30 I had some of the leftover kale salad from Saturday night.  By the way kale keeps forever in a salad.  It’s still so tasty!

Image 4Our big outing out was a trip to the dentist.  Sara was asking all day to go!

When we got home it was more tea and some pomegranates.

Image 5I sent the Hubs and Sara out to dinner to meet family.  I decided to not spread my lovely germs.  I rested my voice, caught up on some work and blogging and enjoyed a hot and steamy bowl of the chickpea quinoa veggie soup I created on Sunday.  Once my head clears I’ll give all of you the recipe for this protein packed bowl of goodness!

There are a couple of things I have come to realize today.

1) I don’t like honey in my tea!  It’s far to sweet!  Yuck.

2) Being sick and having a cold is no fun but not having a voice is even worse!  People just look at your like you are plagued when you open your mouth.

When was the last time you got sick?  Are you down for the count for a long time?

    That coconut milk holiday blend is simply amazing! I love the chocolate mint but may try to hold off until after Thanksgiving. The pumpkin spice however is a must!

  6. Oh no, I hope that you feel better soon! Your chickpea quinoa soup looks delicious – I saw a boxed version similar to that at the store last night that I almost purchased but stuck with the classic chicken noodle because my stomach has been wonky. Unfortunately because I have a suppressed immune system, I tend to catch things veryyy easily – but thankfully I hardly ever pass them onto my husband!
