WIAW: Camp Version!

Happy Wednesday everyone!  This week is flying by!  Time for another version of WIAW!

What I Ate Wednesday: Sensible Snacking

 

We’ve had lots of major storms here!  I guess that all comes with heat and humidity.  Yesterday morning I got out for a short run.  I say short because I totally got caught int he rain!  It wasn’t terrible though and actually felt good.  A good summer run in the rain is fun every now and then!  In addition to the rain my path was totally blocked off!

It was a short 3 mile run but I got home at 6:15 and the house was still quiet so I crept downstairs and did 2 6 minute Tabata Bootcamp!  A little upper body and a little core!  Great workout for the morning!

Breakfast was a yummy green smoothie!

I got a couple of samples from Best Price Nutrition and tried out this Vanilla Spiced Chai flavor in my smoothie!  It gave it a great taste and was really filling!  I also put in some of the almond pulp from my almond milk!  Love adding that to my smoothie!

Sara and I were supposed to leave right away for a night at overnight camp.  My friends husband works at a camp about 2 hours away but the rain was coming down so we pushed the trip back after lunchtime and Sara got to camp!

I packed some snacks for our 24 plus hour girl trip away.  Not sure what camp food is going to be like so I needed to be prepared with some goodies!

The Hubs and I had an early lunch while Sara was at camp! I needed something to fill me up so I made one of these veggies burgers that I bought at the farmers market!

They were great and kept me really full!  I picked up Sara from camp and off we went!

I love camp!  As a child I spent years at overnight camp and made great friends and even better memories.  While in college and after college I spent my summers out east working as the special needs director at an overnight camp.  Love camp! It’s seriously one of my happy places.

Ride was short and sweet and Sara had an afternoon filled with horses, biking, swimming and more!

That’s one happy kid!  For a snack yesterday I had a bag of frozen grapes!  I need to start doing this more often!  It was hot and steamy and it hit the spot.

Dinner wasn’t to bad!  Well they had a large salad bar which saved me.  The camp meal was pretty icky!  Typical for camp food.

My friend and I got the girls to sleep.  Technically, we could call last night Sara’s first sleepover!  Then we had some wine and lots of talk time!

Today, we’ll have another full day of activities before we head home.  Hoping the weather cooperates!

  2. I loved summer camp growing up, especially the year I spent two weeks at equestrian camp. I can’t wait for my girls to have their first stay-away camp experiences!

    Rain runs are GREAT! at long as you have enough time to get your shoes dried off for their next use. This morning was a bit much, had to cut it short as well!
