WIAW: BACK TO WORK and Salba and Purely Elizabeth #giveaway

Happy Wednesday everyone!  So thrilled to be back to work and back to routine!  Although the 5am alarm was PAINFUL!  For the last 2 1/2 weeks there have no alarms and we have been staying bed as late at 7:00am!  My run this morning was hard!!

Peas and Crayons

Welcome to the first WIAW of the year!  Since we were home yesterday, I took my time in the morning.  It also means more time spent on the blog and ANOTHER great giveaway!

After 3 days of treadmill running with a combined mileage total of 16.5 miles I opted for a break and did some Tabata Bootcamp!  Given the excess time I had, I did a 30 minute core and then a 30 minute lower body!  Holy smokes was I sweating a ton post workout!  The workout was so cardio focused!

Post workout was breakfast time and while I have truly been loving my green smoothies, I figured yesterday was the time to sit down and enjoy breakfast before the craziness begins again today!

Salba Chia has partnered up with Purely Elizabeth and they have some great new oatmeals that pack a punch to your morning breakfast

Theme: A healthy New Year starts with breakfast!

You’ve probably heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do you know why? Just like cars need gas, our bodies need fuel for energy, clarity and overall good attitudes. Eating breakfast also increases metabolism, and studies have shown weight loss is easier for those who eat breakfast. When you keep your body from getting the fuel it needs, there’s a tendency to overeat during lunch and dinner. Similarly, eating the right breakfast foods can help boost your day.

I topped my oatmeal with more Salba chia, almond butter and a dash of coconut milk!  Purely Elizabeth Ancient Grain Oatmeal is gluten free, no added sugar and quick cooking.  Just a couple of minutes on the stove or in the microwave and breakfast is ready.  Plus one serving has 7g of protein and 5g of fiber!.

Giveaway Time:  1 winner will receive: Salba Chia Premium Ground & Whole Seed pouch & Purely Elizabeth Ancient Grain Oatmeal.

Next up was lunch, since breakfast was later then normal and quite filling no snack needed!

Chickpea quinoa and kale soup with a Cutie and a some more kale chips!

By the afternoon I was feeling totally stir-crazy and the temps were on the rise! By “on the rise,”  I mean that we hit 1 degree!  So, I ventured out to Whole Foods, not because I needed anything but because I needed to get out of the house.

Thankfully when I got home I found a Friends marathon on TBS!  Seriously, I will never get enough of Friends!  While watching Friends I decided to bake some cookies for after dinner!

I used my almond meal that I had dried earlier in the morning to make these chocolate chip cookies.  Gluten free and vegan and a hit with everyone!

Dinner was simple!  Farmers market veggie burger topped with some red pepper pesto I made yesterday and a side of veggies.  Plus a cookie or two to follow.

Image 3No wine for me last night.  Typical after dinner tea and time to prep to get back into the swing of things!

Today is a very long day, so I will be back on Friday!  In the meantime, feel free to catch up on all the giveaways going on this week!  Snow/cold day= Extra special giveaways for all of you!

Have a great day!
