Weekend Recap: The Food, The Fun and The Run

It’s Sunday evening just after 7pm as I sit down to blog.  Sara has been asleep for a good 15 minutes.  It was just kind of day.  We are all probably starting to get colds over here as well.  It’s that time of year!  The weekend was great and jam packed!  Lots of cooking, lots of fun and charity run to end the weekend! Let’s recap!

Saturday morning I waited for the sky to lighten just after 7am to get out for a quick 4 mile run!  Pacing out at 7:45 with cold and wind, I was quite pleased when I was done.  The water fountains are off.  At this point any outdoor runs in the season are just going to happen by the luck of good weather.  I don’t run outside when it gets cold, wet, snowy or icy.  Do you?

I had a client in the morning and a class in the afternoon.  After teaching at the Y I headed home.  We had our friends over for dinner and we aim to make a vegan feast about once a month.  Our friends are vegan and we love experimenting and trying things that we find on Pinterest!  Saturday night was exceptionally good!

We made this, this and this!  Oh and my friend brought over fresh farmers market mushrooms that we grilled up!  Sadly this is the end of farmers market goodness until at least May!  Dinner was amazing… as always!

Sunday morning I had time to food prep!  Sara had a birthday party at 10 and I hd a 5k at 4pm so the day was a bit different.  It was so nice to have a lazy few hours.

I made some of this pumpkin granola and prepped a new crock pot chickpea veggie quinoa soup!  Recipe for the soup will come later in the week!  It made for an amazing dinner after our race!

So we all took part in an afternoon charity race!  It was an un-timed zombie run.  I’ve never done a zombie run but I had a great time.  Amazing kids and adults dressed up as zombies and placed in various hiding places on the course!  It was cute!  When the race started I neglected to even press start on run keeper so I just started running.  I have NO idea how long it took me run.  I believe I paced around 7:15-7:30.

I crossed the finish line 3.1 miles later and found out I was the first female finisher!  Pretty cool.  I won a $50 gift certificate to a local sushi restaurant and the Hubs and I got tickets to the charity dinner and a movie event tonight.  So, we get a bonus date night!

Image 2Sara rocked her mile pounding the pavement for the first 3/4 and then slowing down a bit!  Pretty amazing for a 4 year old!  Maybe I’m just biased!

Yesterday might have been the final race of the season.  We will see if I can squeeze another short one in.  I’ll have to look what’s happening locally!

    I run outside most of the winter in cold but not on ice or alone in the dark!

  3. I fell into the play cook category. We got a new sushi place by us that we went Saturday night and it was incredible! Yesterday was all about the cooking!
