Weekend Photo Dump and My Attempt to Be Dairy Free This Week

We had some great weather here on Saturday and it’s going to continue for at least the next couple of days!  It was awesome that we got to spend hours at the park!  All the kids were out in the neighborhood and to top it off, the Hubs and I went out for sushi with friends on Saturday night.

Sunday, we did LUNGevity Breath Deep  walk in memory of my mother in law who lost  her battle to lung cancer about 15 months ago.  We started our group last year and I hope that we continue to this walk in her memory every year.  It’s always a wonderful event!

I was proud that Sara actually pretty much ran the 1.25 mile walking course.  The girl is itching for some races!  She has to be my daughter!

We got lots of feedback on our team shirts just as we did last year.  It was our family mantra and still is to this day!  People wanted to know if we could sell them the shirts!

Photo: My little princess, Sara, on our 2nd annual Lungevity Cancer Walk to commemorate the most amazing woman and spirit ever, my Mom. Mom was Sara's Mimi and each and every time Sara laughs or smiles I see my Mom again. I'm so grateful to have her and my wonderful family. F*** Cancer!

After the race we came back home and I got some meal prepping done.  I’ve been thinking about going dairy free for a while now and I don’t anticipate that will be a permanent change but I just want to see if I notice any difference in the next one to two weeks.  For now, I’ll take it one week at a time.  I actually don’t consume a ton of dairy but I do eat a lot of greek yogurt, so this will be interesting.  I picked up a few things at Whole Foods to help me out!  I think breakfast and dessert will be my biggest challenge!  If anyone has recipes to share or tips let me know!

I’ll keep you posted this week on how it’s going and any new foods that I am trying!

Kim over at Hungry Healthy Girl inspired me to make some homemade Larabars yesterday from her post last week that I actually turned into protein balls.  I’ll give you guys the recipe soon!

We went over to dinner at our friends house and I modified this dessert from Chocolate Covered Katie’s website.  I also made the same high protein fiesta salad that I made last Sunday because it was so good and I had everything in the house!

I’m so excited because tonight the season finale of The Following!  For 15 weeks, the Hubs and I have sat ready at 8pm on Monday nights to be thrilled!  I don’t know how it’s going to end tonight and I am sure I will be sad next Monday when I don’t have anything exciting to watch on TV, but at 8pm tonight you will find me in front of the TV for what promises to probably be one of the most thrilling hours on TV!!  Is anyone else as excited as I am?

Oh and I am also very excited for tomorrow!!  Temps are supposed to be in the 80’s and I am NOT working!  Woo hoo!! Don’t forget that the folks at ProBar are giving away a case of your choice!  Enter here.

Have a great day everyone.

We are supposed to be in the low 80s today – love it!!!
I love that your family did the walk together (and your daughter ran it!!) and those shirts are awesome!!!
(without being stalkerish, are you and Debbie related? I know she mentioned her mom and you said your mother-in-law both had lung cancer – I didn’t know if it was coincidence or same)
