Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I finally broke up with my treadmill and made it for a nice long run outside! I layered up and just did it!! My goal was to do between 8 and 10 miles but I also told myself that I would be happy with 6 or 7!
Ended up with 9 1/2 miles! Not to bad if I do say so myself!! Faster and longer than I have run in months. If I can keep this up for a couple more weeks, I will be ready my half marathon on April 6th!
I’m kicking off the SPRING INTO RUNNING giveaway week with a great giveaway. I’m not going to dwell on the fact that spring starts this week and we are still going to be cold and blustery over here in the Windy City… I’m just going to continue to THINK SPRING!

I want to talk a bit more about Tabata’s. A tabata for those of you who don’t know it a 4 minute high intensity form of exercise. Tabata is broken down into 8 cycles. After a quick warmup, the exercise is performed to failure for 20 seconds. There is a 10 second rest followed by another 20 second bout of intensity. 8 rounds of this makes up 4 minutes. Last Monday, I explained what TRUE TABATA was. Today, I am going to talk about a TABATA Type.
Tabata type training offers more variety for you. 2-4 exercises are combined to create the 4 minute experience. The Tabata timing remains the same but exercises are added to vary the training. Today’s type will focus on the lower body.
Here is what you should do. After warming up your legs with some butt kicks, side to sides or jogging in place for no more than a minute.
I want you to do two rounds of pile squat jumps and then two rounds of lunge jump squats and repeat.
This means that for the first 20 seconds you do the pile squat jumps, rest and repeat and then go into the same thing with lunge jump squats for 2 rounds. Then repeat the cycle again for a total of 8 rounds.
If jumping is hard on your knees then just do regular squats and lunges but go as hard as you can for the duration of the 20 seconds. Remember this YOUR WORKOUT so make it your own and do what you can!
Disclosure: I received this top from ViewSPORT. It was my decision to do this review for them and all opinions expressed are on my own.
