If you are a regular reader of my blog then you probably realized that over the course of the last several weeks I focused less on running and working out. Healing from the nagging periformis injury has been humbling and eye opening. As a fitness trainer and someone who generally exercises 6 days a week it’s hard to grasp the concept of weaknesses. Nevertheless, I have worked on resting, stretching and strengthening. Now, I am working to get back into running and it’s HARD. I’m scheduled to run the Title IX Women’s 9k next Sunday and hoping I can achieve that goal! Have you ever worked hard at getting “back at it?”
As the cold weather begins to approach I also start thinking about other ways to get a good sweat in. At some point I will likely return to Bikram Yoga but the hard part is that the classes are 90 minutes and the entire process takes SO long. I have always felt great afterwards but it’s just a LOT of time.
So, I am contemplating either trying some early morning spin classes at the YMCA. I’ve never really been a “spinner” or trying out The Daily Method which recently opened up near my house. Does anyone have any experience there or with the Barre Method?
Trying new things is important because it keeps life “exciting.” How do you keep your workouts exciting?
Finally, I am so excited to share with you that I am embarking on a new professional development step. It was almost exactly one year ago that I told the Hubs that I wanted to become a Certified Fitness Trainer. 10 weeks later I received this!
Becoming a trainer has opened up doors and possibilities that I would have never imagined. My job with the Exercise Connection has allowed me to combine my passions and help individuals with special needs lead healthier life styles through fitness and movement.
So, I’m excited to let you all know that I have just registered with ACE FITNESS to obtain a Fitness Nutrition Speciality Certification. I’m so excited about this next step and can’t wait to share the journey with all of you!
That’s a lot of information for a Thursday! Have a great day
