The Week The Kicked my Butt… & Currently: March

Hello Friends

Oh this was just not my week.  Steroid withdrawal literally starting kicking my butt on Saturday night.  Who knew there was such a thing but in talking with friends, Dr. Google and the pharmacist, it’s totally legit. I was down for the count for most of this week.  Energy zapped, appetite ZERO… (which I totally hate because I love to eat!) upset stomach, body aches… you name it…. I had it going on.

So, as I am finally turning the corner towards having more energy and feeling more like me let’s catch up with an updated CURRENTLY….since I haven’t done one since January

Running:  Between getting hit with strep last month, the hearing loss, steroids and now withdrawal I’ve had quite a few “off days.”  I got a 9 miler in last weekend and now have 2 spring 1/2 marathon’s on the calendar.  The Chicagoland 1/2 Marathon in May and the North Shore 1/2 Marathon in June. Looking forward to more long runs, and upcoming races. 

Non-Running Workout:  As much as I can I am still working to do a plank and set of pushups every day.  I’ve noticed how much stronger my core and my arms are.  It’s the easiest way to add something into my workout routine.  I am hoping that I can get back to the Dailey Method this summer once school is over and there is more time in the day.

Excitement: SPRING BREAK!!!  We are all on vacation one week from today!!!  I can’t wait.  I’d love some nice spring weather to go along with the time off but I really don’t care!!  Just excited.  We are headed to Oxford,Ohio back where I went to school with friends and our kids for a couple of days.  Can’t wait!!

Garden Item:   Our tulips are starting to come up!!  I’ve been begging he The Hubs for a couple of years to plant tulips and last fall he and Sara did it!!  I can’t wait to seem them bloom!  Such  sign of spring.

TV: OMG- House of Cards Season 4!!  We watched season 3 over the last couple weeks (yes I know we are year behind but we finally found the time.)  Season 4 is the BEST yet!!  Anyone else into it!?! We are 1/2 way done with the season and this has really been my favorite!

Kitchen Gadget:  No real gadgets or things to share this time around. I need to get back on my food prep game after spring break.  Lack of eating means lack of prepping which also means lack of cooking.  I’m ready to start getting back to grilling!

Not-So-Healthy-Indulgence:  Ice Cream… some things don’t ever change. It’s not in the house but when I can get my hands on the real good stuff I’m all over it!!  Ice cream is definitely my GO TO when it comes to sweets!

Healthy Indulgence: I’m on a major Mexican and guac kick these days!img_7400

I could eat Mexican food EVERY SINGLE DAY!  Even when my appetite was down I still had cravings for guac.  Sara and the Hubs made this at their Iron Chef Daddy/Daughter event last Friday night.  Too bad she doesn’t eat guac… girl doesn’t know what she is missing!!

Mood: I’m super anxious to be feeling 100% like me again!!  I’m getting close but still not there yet.  In other news, I just got B his first pair of shoes yesterday.  He’s not walking yet but I think he is getting close.  I’m also excited because I have a great giveaway coming next week!!  I promise I won’t fall off the planet again!!

    House of Cards S4! Loved it! If you like psychological thrillers and haven’t watched The Fall yet, I recommend it (on Netflix). Two seasons, 5 episodes each. Flaked on Netflix is one season – new Netflix show. Slow at first but is was a good, easy dramedy.
