Sun-Dried Tomato Basil Hummus!

It’s been awhile since I have done a new recipe!  As you know I bought a Vitamix a few weeks ago and I can safely say that I use it almost every day!  Sometimes 2-3 times a day! Since buying the Vitamix I don’t think that I will ever buy store bought almond milk or hummus again!

The basil in our garden has been amazing!  Actually all of the herbs are doing quite well!!

I whipped this up last week in the Vitamix!  If you don’t have one a food processor is just fine!

Sun-Dried Tomato Basil Hummus!
Recipe type: Snack/Appetizer
Prep time: 
Total time: 
Serves: 6-8
Fast, Easy and Fresh! A great snack or appetizer!
  • 1 15oz can of garbanzo beans
  • ¼ – ⅓ cup of fresh basil
  • 2-3T of chopped sun dried tomatoes in olive oil
  • 1 T of Olive Oil
  • 3 T of sesame seeds
  • 3-4 T of liquid from garbanzo beans
  • Juice of one Lemon
  1. Open can of garbanzo beans and remove 3-4 Tablespoons of the liquid and put into Vitamix.
  2. Rinse and drain beans and add them to the Vitamix (or food processor.)
  3. Add all remaining ingredients and process 1-2 minutes (depending on the power of your food processor/Vitamix.)

My apologies that my pictures really aren’t the best but I am not a photographer!  I love to eat and cook and taking pictures of my food isn’t something I do so well but I promise you that this is delicious!

  1. I haven’t yet made hummus in my Vitamix, only food processor & it’s amazing.
    If I made it with 1 can of chick peas, it’d be gone in 3 minutes around here. You know how this crew eats!

    I never thought about making our own hummus. We buy hummus for sandwiches for our little tot, but I’m forgetting the flavor that she eats.. Will have to look into making it!

  5. I’ve been making my hummus at home for the past year. But prior to that, I would buy Trader Joe’s horseradish hummus and chipotle hummus. Those were my favorite. But once I figured out how to do it myself, I’ve stopped buying it pre-made.

  6. This looks great! I have wanted to try my hand at making hummus for a while now. I have a basil plant in my backyard and some sun dried tomatoes (not packed in oil but I think they’ll work anyway), so I think I am going to give your recipe a try!
