MIMM: January Fitness Goals

And just like that Winter Break 2015 has come to a close.  It was wonderful, relaxing (kind of)… exhausting and fun!  I’m sure all you mamma’s get that…!

It’s ok though.. getting back to our normal routine is needed after these last 2 weeks!  I spent a couple of hours yesterday prepping food and lunches for the week.  Taking two weeks off from food prep was amazing but it also felt amazing to grocery shop, chop, prep, package and plan during nap time!

We enjoyed the last week and going on vacation the first week was perfect as we spent this last week playing, relaxing and healing.   After cutting 5 teeth this break, having a little stomach bug and an ear infection the little man is back to himself and eating a TON!!

Lots of cuddles, extra nursing and catching up on sleep for a few days was all this guy needed.  Now’s he on the move, talking and laughing up a storm!!

Being at home this last week allowed me to get on the treadmill almost every day and run! I’m enjoying my runs and broke our new shoes on the first of the year!  January is going to focus on Laura’s 21 day reset  and I am also adding this challenge that I saw on IG to my workouts.  This will hold me acceptable for daily pushups and I have been loving all of these monthly challenges.

In addition to the push up challenge, 21 day reset the Hubs and I are going to continue to remember to do planks every day!  I did a 30 day challenge back in November and it absolutely made me stronger!  A one minute plank used to be a challenge for me, but these days I am doing a daily plank between 2 and 3 minutes.  I’d like to continue with that as I know it will only make me stronger!

Each month, I will look to tackle new goals that will ultimately make me stronger and healthier and more ready to get back to the start line this coming spring!

Do you set goals?  Monthly or yearly? Monthly goal setting is pretty new to me but I hope it will keep me driven and focused.  I won’t start making mileage goals until the spring time.  While I am enjoying my time on the treadmill right now, I have no idea how long that will last.

So 2016, I’m ready for ya!!!  Who’s with me?

  1. Your little guy is so adorable! Sorry he wasn’t feeling too hot – we’re in the same boat right around now, but I’m glad he’s starting to feel better!! Have a great Monday!

  2. I typically do monthly clothing budget goals, but otherwise, I do yearly goals/words to live by, etc. But I like the idea of seasonal too- especially when it comes to racing!

  3. I think that actually committing myself to some sort of mini challenge (that doesn’t impact my back) might be a great idea for me right now as I continue to deal with my injuries. And boooo for tummy and ear troubles! I had chronic ear infections as a kid, so I feel his pain!

I’m a big fan of monthly goals! They seem more easier to achieve for me rather than setting a goal for the year where it quickly starts to feel tiresome and stressful.

All the best for January and for 2016 in general 🙂
