Maternity Leave Truths…

It’s hard to believe that the little man is 8 weeks old today and I’ll be headed back to work in just over a month!  Time has gone so quickly.  When Sara was born I only was able to take off about 8-9 weeks.  It was summer time and the Hubs was off too.  While I have been doing some work from home and teaching one class one day a week, I can’t imagine getting fully back into it just yet!!

Despite a brutal February, I have really enjoyed my time at home.  Our lives have changes so much in the last 8 weeks!!

Truth… I LOVE putting workout clothes and yoga pants on 95% of the time after I get out the shower.  Who doesn’t love being comfy ALL DAY LONG!

Truth… all I need is a hot shower and a quick workout to keep me feeling refreshed!! I ran 4 miles yesterday and it felt so good I nearly cried when I was done.  I should probably attribute that to crazy hormones!  I’m searching for some local spring races and thinking about a fall half marathon!

Truth… I have kind of become a very simple DIY lady on this break.  Last week I started the homemade vanilla process and Friday night I found myself whipping up my own hand cream and foaming soap with my essential oils!   Who am I?!

Truth… there are days I rush out of the house, get in the car and realize… oops, I forgot to brush my teeth.

Truth.. one of the many reasons I enjoy being home is being able to actually cook lunch and whip up random creations! This lunch was zoodles with artichokes and tomatoes tossed in a roasted red pepper sauce with some pecan parmesan cheese!!  Took 5 minutes to make and tasted AMAZING!

Truth… Ben has been sleeping and napping great and I don’t like to talk about because I am worried I will jinx it… Shhh, let’s not discuss!  I’m also such a creature of habit that I have been doing the same EXACT bedtime routine every night this week.  Hey, if it’s not broken WHY fix it!!?

Truth… for someone who loves to GO GO GO,  I am perfectly happy waking up int he morning with ZERO plans!  Maternity leave has taught me once again how important it is to slow down and enjoy life.  It’s given me the chance to be mindful all day long!!

Do you practice being mindful?  Did you enjoy maternity leave?  What was your favorite part about it??

  4. The hardest part about maternity leave coming to an end is that at 12 weeks, my boys just started to be really fun! I hated leaving them at that point.
