Friday FALL 5!

Ok so I am prematurely jumping the gun on fall even though it’s still two weeks ago.  After the rainy, humid, sticky, hot and gross day we had yesterday, I am fantasizing about all things fall!!  Not sure if it’s the intense pregnancy cravings I have been having for fall food or the need for some mild 60 degree and sunny weather!

So in no real particular order here are the 5 things that I am MOST excited about for fall!

images  Apples!  I’ve been buying them at the farmers market for a few weeks now but I am really craving a big ole juicy honey crisp.  Word on the stress or Instagram is that they are making their way back!!  I can’t wait!  I love apples but they are nothing to write home about in the summer months!

2) k3  Costco Butternut Squash.  Actually any ole butternut squash is fine but lets be honest, I only buy the stuff from Costco because they take do all the hard work.  On the times I have attempted to peel, cut or prep my own squash, it usually doesn’t end so well!  I’m so excited for soup, roasted squash and more!

3) UnknownAll things pumpkin!  Who is with me!!!??! My plan is to hold off on this until at least the end of September so that I don’t get sick of it!  I prefer more the savory pumpkin dishes and not the sweet ones.  Think pumpkin chili, pumpkin ravioli… etc

crockpotOK, so it technically doesn’t need to be fall for me to break out the crock pot but every year the same thing happens.  Possibly because once the weather gets nicer I get so excited about grilling.  Except I wasn’t really much of a griller this summer because I struggled and am still struggling around any kind of raw meat or fish!  (yuck!!)  My cooking habits are very slowly coming back but I’m most excited about throwing soups, tacos and chilis into the crock pot and coming home to dinner!!

5) fall-scenery Finally, I can’t wait for the leaves to start turning colors and to make large piles of leaves!  I love fall festivals, long walks in beautiful fall days!

Of course, a fall post wouldn’t be complete without the discussion of the return to Sunday football. We are truly a NFL football family and I love hosting Sunday football get togethers…

So… while we are still a few weeks away from the official start to fall, is anyone else excited about fall?  What are you most excited about??

I use my crock pots year round but do tend to use them more in the fall and winter because it is so easy to throw in stuff for soup or chili!!!

BUTTERNUT SQUASH rocks my socks off. Seriously adore that fruit – yes, fruit… And could eat it every waking minute of every single day, but it’s the biggest BBBBBB to prepare!!! And it makes me hands feel all weird when I handle it! Ugh, the price to pay for deliciousness!
