Friday 5!!

Happy Friday and of course HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

I’m so glad we did a bunch of Halloween activities last weekend when it was 70 and sunny because it’s cold, raw, windy and rainy today!

That was our pumpkin on Sunday after we carved it.

Less then 48 hours later it looked like this…

And shortly thereafter…

Oops… I guess next year we will keep it inside until Halloween!

Thankfully, I have this very rational 5 year old who doesn’t have much interest in doing a whole lot of trick or treating in the rain!  She’s happy to go to school, celebrate all day with her friends, parade around and call it a day.  Perhaps if it’s not too horrible after school we will hit up some houses around the neighborhood but the weather folks are predicting a whole lot of bad weather!

Let’s get to the Friday 5! There is a common theme today of food… shocking right?!

Look what Costco got this week!  I’ve been happily enjoying my pomegranate seeds all week!  To me these are worth the splurge.  No mess, no time and they are SOOO good!  Love when these are back in season

Another Costco find!  Have you guys had this before?  I’ve seen it on the shelf and it has been around for a bit of time but I got it at Costco last month and am really enjoying it! The only ingredient is black beans!  It’s packed with fiber and fills all of our “pasta” needs.  Sara loves it too!  It’s a great gluten free and healthy substitute when you are making a pasta dish!

3)  I found these single sized quinoa dishes in the freezer section at Target.  At under $2 they make a great addition to any dinner or in my case lunch this week!  Clean and simple ingredients!

4) I guess you can say I started nesting this week.  I did a major clean and organizing of my closet and drawers.  Lots of clothing donations and sorting! Which leads to me this picture…

Scarfs… I really am loving scarfs right now.  I am NOT good at accessorizing  I wish I knew the perfect necklace or bracelet to compliment and outfit but it’s a weakness of mine.  Scarfs to the rescue!  I think I have worn one every day and I need to get some more!  Not only do they keep you a bit warmer as the temps drop but they really dress up or change any outfit!  Anyone else a big scarf fan?

5) Omaha_Nebraska1

Sara and I along with my friend and her daughter are taking our girls to visit our college friend and kids and headed to Omaha.  You may recall I visited there last year but without the kids.  This year the girls are coming for one big party!  It will be a different kind of getaway but I know we are going to have a blast!

So, what do you have going on this weekend?  I’ll be back Tuesday or Wednesday of next week!

Have a great weekend everyone!

The pumpkins in my house looked like a mess after a few days too! Oh well, it’s fun to carve them and admire your work for one night at least 🙂

  6. The squirrels are really aggressive, aren’t they? They ate all our tomatoes this year-before they even turned red! We stopped doing pumpkins for the very reason you posted.
