The Day after my new PR and the Chicago Marathon

Happy Monday Friends

I’m still running on high after yesterdays race… well this morning it’s more like “moving slow” and not quite running.

My 3rd Chicago Marathon is in the books and 10 years after my first I took 15 minutes off my 2010 time and 25 minutes off my 2006 time.  Proving once again that age is just a number!!

I’ll work on getting a rundown of the weekend this week but for today I’m just showing you some pics from the incredibly memorable weekend.

Sharing it with Sara was AMAZING!!

She was my partner in crime Saturday morning at the expo and we had a blast!

I’m thankful for a day off today which involves breakfast out!  (yeah for more food) and a date with my chiropractor!!

I’ll be honest and say that I am a bit sad it’s over!  Yesterday flew by so fast and once again Chicago put on one heck of a great race!!  Thankful my team was there to cheer me on!! Oh and check out these amazing cute shirts I got to surprise my family thanks to the wonderful folks at CustomInk!!

Have a fantastic and wonderful Monday friends!!  I’m So happy this week is a short one!!

Congrats Laura on the shiny new PR. Chicago put on a great race and I enjoyed every moment despite being seriously undertrained due to injury. Enjoy recooperating and figuring out your next one!

  2. I was cheering with Marcia and Erica, and I have a picture of you waving at us! Let me know if you want it. You looked so happy and strong! Congrats on your PR. Was that a BQ for you?

    • Laura says:

You are awesome!!! Yes it’s a BQ but not sure if it will be enough since this year runners needed 2:09 better then BQ and I got 1:17!! Have to wait a year! Nevertheless a BQ!! Wish it was a guarantee in!!! Send me the pic please!!!

  3. Congratulations on such a great race!!! It is crazy how fast it all goes by after so much work. Glad you soaked it all in and got to share the expo with your daughter.

  5. Oh congrats on your PR, that’s amazing! You’re being such a great role model for your kids, as a PE teacher I love to see active parents teaching their children about health and fitness. 🙂

It looks like you had a fabulous weekend! Congratulations on your marathon time as well. Speedy speedy!

Huge Congrats on your BQ. I know how thrilling that is. I was in the same situation as you in September when I registered for Boston 2017. I qualified at the Rockford Marathon in May of this year with a 3:38:02. I missed the cut off 2:09 by 19 seconds. The BAA is making harder and harder to qualify. They cut this years field by 800 runners. Had they kept the field size the same I would have qualified. This was a bad year for marathons (a lot of hot marathons) and all the bloggers were predicting a zero cutoff ( Who knows what BAA will do with cutoff next year?? If it is good weather year for marathons and plus, the Boston documentary movie is coming out this year. I think it is going to be 5 plus minute cutoff . They make it hard for the everyday runner to get there. But I am still dreaming and already signed up for my next race – Illinois Marathon April 20th. Hey – if want to try to better your time – this might be a good race. But anyway – enjoy your great PR- you earned it!

  8. Well take a full rest the next day after the event, you are so tired during the event but more worth it!
