Day 6 of Spring into Running Giveaway- NEW ISOPURE Protein Drinks

Saturday has always been my long run day.  Two weeks from today I will be running the Lincoln Presidential 1/2 Marathon in Springfield, Il.  I got Debbie over at Healthy Running Mom to join me on this journey.  Unfortunately, as you know outdoor training season has not been in our favor this year.  One year we were breaking records and experiencing temps in the mid and upper 80’s and today, I just want to break 40 degrees!   It’s been bright and sunny all week but freezing!!  Anyways, typically after my long runs it takes me a bit of time to really reach the stage when I want something to eat.  I used to drink Gatorade post runs because your body really needs something after you depleting all your energy and sweating out all those minerals; however, Gatorade is loaded with sugar!

The wonderful folks over at Isopure sent me some of their new protein recovery drinks!

ISOPURE  is the first drink with 100% pure whey protein isolate. Sounds complicated, but it’s really simple. It’s a pretty big bottle and given my size, I decided to drink 1/2 of it after my long run!  It tastes great and  doesn’t leave you with that overly sweet feeling!  It’s easy on your stomach and really helps replenish and recharge you!

    I will have to buy some Isopure. Looks very interesting!!!! I usually refuel with Nunn and a protein shake (almond milk, RAW protein powder and sometimes a little chocolate syrup).

    I don’t think we will have a break in the weather until AFTER Easter!!! I do long runs on Sunday’s…….it has been tooooo long since I have been out!!!!!!

    I’m ready to eat after a run. I have started using Nuun tablets for hydrating, but the best way for me to recover is to get some food in me, something good, a protein shake is my favorite thing but that’s not always easy to get post race. Then within a few hours I’m ready for a meal. I’d love to try these drinks!

    On days I’m rushed or really wiped from a run, I mix up a quick glass of water and protein powder (right now I have a rice protein mix; still looking for a non–soy powder I really like). On better days, I’ll take a few more minutes and make a green smoothie: spinach, cucumbers, peppers, 1/3 banana and some frozen fruit.

    I’ve been dying to try isopure! but it’s so expensive :(. After a run, I usually mix up some plant fusion protein, a banana, and some almond milk for a recovery smoothie.

    I usually recover with some sort of protein either a bar or a shake. My favorite protein is Perfect Fit by Tone It Up !! It is raw, organic, vegan, gluten free & delicious !!!!

    To recover from a long run, I stretch and then take an ice bath followed by a hot shower. After that I will foam roll throughout the day!
