Day 1 and Week 1 of The Clean 30 Challenge!!

Happy Monday!

I’m linking up with Katie for MIMM!

MiMM MIMM #91Marvelous Moments of the Weekend

Indeed I am excited and happy about kicking off The 30 Clean today!  I had a couple of bad eating days last week.  Nothing terrible but unnecessary grazing, spoonfuls of peanut butter for no reason and a lot meal on the go “bar” days.  The result was poor sleep at night and sluggishness during the day.   So it’s time to do this!!

So people have asked me why I am doing this since I really eat “clean” for the most part.  My response is that while I do eat clean, stay away from processed foods, refined sugars and am pretty good with my wheat and gluten intake, there is always room for improvement.

I’ve mentioned before my grazing and snacking is often out of hand during the 4pm hour.  I want to be more conscious about what I eat and this plan will also force me into a bit more meal prep and planning, which I have really slacked at this last month.

The 30 Clean is doable to me because there are things I don’t have to give up.  I can continue to have my cup of coffee in the morning with my homemade almond milk.  I can have a drink or two on the weekends when I am out with friends  and if the chocolate craving hits, I enjoy a square of dark chocolate.

I can continue to eat my almond butter and I love that this plan allows for legumes in moderation!  To me these next 30 days will be a challenge but doable!

What am I worried about missing?  Well, no more Starbucks coffee with my soy topper.  No more brown rice, quinoa or grains of any sorts!  No overnight oats or slices of my favorite bread. No more protein powders and no protein bars.  Larabars and some of the Nak’d bars which I recently discovered are OK for snacks!  I’m sad about saying goodbye to my favorite granola from Oh She Glows!

What am I excited about?  I’m excited to take back my kitchen and have good wholesome meals back no the table.  While the week has a couple of meals out which is totally acceptable on The Clean 30, I am excited about enjoying some really good food!  The Clean 30 has a supplemental guide for those who workout a lot, are pregnant or nursing.  So, yes this plan is for anyone.  They also have a meal plan for Vegans and vegetarians.  They have thought of all of it!

I’m excited about the daily email support and Facebook message board that has already been busy!

For the first time in a long time I had some serious time to food prep yesterday!

Part of the challenge is taking some “before” pics.  I don’t have scale in my house and to be honest the last time I stepped on a scale was when I went in for a yearly physical.  I’m just not one to weigh myself but I am sharing my before pics with all of you!

I think it’s going to be a great 30 days!

In other MARVELOUS news… I am so freaking excited for the return of Jack tonight!

That’s right Jack is freaking back!!!  I hope he doesn’t let me down.  But who am I kidding… Jack has always left me wanting more!!  Who else is excited??

Have a marvelous and wonderful day!

Have you ever heard of The Clean 30?

Have you ever done an elimination diet?

Tell me something wonderful/marvelous about your weekend or week!

  1. I’ve also been eating cleaner the last month or so. I’ve always been a pretty healthy vegetarian eater but wanted to fine tune a few things. I could never give up brown rice and quinoa! Why is that not allowed on your plan? I think they are pretty healthy.

  2. I like the looks of the Clean 30 and can’t wait to hear how it goes for you! I’ve done a modified version of the 21 Day Sugar Detox, which I like, and have run my own group program called the Spring Reset (which is basically a focus on eating clean). Good luck!

Good luck with you plan! I did Atkins when I turned 30 and that really helped me kick the sugar habit! I don’t consume a ton of bad carbs because of it either. I had lost a bunch of weight (too much really) which I gained back two fold when I stopped it. It’s been an unending battle to lose it again the right way with clean eating and exercise. But at least something good came of the experience 🙂

  4. This is the first I’ve heard of the Clean 30, but I’m very intrigued. I did the Whole 30 a year and a half ago and felt great eating that way. I enjoyed gaining insight into the foods I’m somewhat sensitive to. Since then, I’ve made changes in my overall diet based on that, but wouldn’t follow the Whole 30 verbatim long-term. I’m looking forward to hearing how this goes for you.

You will be awesome with the Clean 30!!!
I haven’t ever done any type of elimination diet – I know that wouldn’t work well for me – maybe it’s all mental but….
