It’s the middle of October! What!?? Since it’s been a couple of months since I’ve done a Currently… I thought I would catch all of you up on life. I haven’t been able to post as much as I would like these days but we are having some outstanding fall weather so good weather trumps sitting in front of my computer!!
Reading: Reading consists of fun books with Sara and B! That’s it folks… one day I’ll read again!
Running: During the week I am on the treadmill and my mileage is dropping a bit as I don’t have nearly as much time as I did in the summer. The long weekend gave me the chance to run 3 times outside!!! I’m setting a lofty and big goal right now… that is to run the Chicago Marathon in 2016. My last marathon was in 2010. It was right after I turned 30 but 2016 will mark 10 years since my first marathon so it has SOME significance. I know that if I start talking about it now I will hold myself accountable to following through with it! It’s a HUGE commitment, especially with 2 kids but it’s something that I would really like to do again!… Fall running is MY FAVORITE time of year! Leaves crunches, beautiful sunrises and cool temps! Can’t beat it!
Non-Running Workout: I’ve been doing these SHRED415 On the Go workouts! They are 20 minutes and I can watch them on my iPad. The perfect 5:30 workout for days that I don’t feel like getting on the treadmill. I haven’t been able to get to the Dailey Method since our schedules don’t allow for it quite yet but I would like to get back there once the weather turns colder. Excitement: I never did an 8 month update on B so I’ll probably just do 8 and 9 months together but wow has he been growing! He finally got a tooth this week, has been busy crawling, clapping and babbling NON stop!! I feel like he is doing something new everyday!!
Garden Item: The garden is officially oven but the Hubs did plant tulips over the weekend so that is something to look forward to in the spring!! I love tulips!!
TV: The DVR is so full. Fall shows are back but I am having a hard time keeping up. PLUS our beloved Chicago Cubs are in the playoffs so watching those games always comes first! Go Cubs Go!!!
Kitchen Gadget: It’s crock pot season! Bring on the chills, curries, soups and anything that I can make in large batches to assist with food prep!!
Not-So-Healthy-Indulgence: The Hubs and I went to Seasons52 on Saturday night. One of our new favorite date places. Not only is their food incredible but their desserts are the best!! They bring out this big tray of small sample size desserts and you just pull what you want!! OMG it’s soo good!!! The Hubs and I have no probably conquering dessert!!!
Healthy Indulgence: One of my new favorite lunches is roasted veggies, sweet potatoes and chickpeas topped with avocado. I make a large batch and portion it out for the week!! It’s a nice break from salads and zoodles and perfect before I start bringing soup to work. Plus, it doesn’t have to be heated so I can eat it anywhere!
Mood: It’s hard to believe that Halloween is around the corner and I know the holidays will soon follow. B has been with us for almost 9 months and there days when I still can’t believe how lucky we are. While the new routine is often hard and sometimes it feels like the Hubs and I are ships passing in the night, I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Feeling pretty lucky!!
