Cold, Snow and Pushing Through

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to start off by thanking Jess from Just Call Me Janks who filled in yesterday for me as I needed an extra day to catch up!  We had a great weekend!  Busy and my computer stayed close until Monday morning!  For starters I spent all day Saturday leading a 6 hour workshop to a large group of teachers, trainers and therapists from the area on how to implement Exercise Connection into their current PE programs and classes.  It was an awesome day and wonderful to see Exercise Connection continue to grow and spread all over!!  So very exciting!!

I got my workouts in this weekend as well!  Completing a quick 5 on Saturday as part of Laura’s Virtual Race series and then 4 miles on Sunday and an awesome interval class at The Daily Method!

It’s March 4th but if you looked outside you would think it’s January 4th.  I’m losing patience fast for this winter which is now going down as the coldest and snowiest in MY lifetime!

I’m blogged about how grateful I am for my treadmill and how I am lucky that I can get up, change, pop the contacts in and go right downstairs but at this point i’m ready to get outside!  However, I don’t see this snow or cold leaving anytime soon!  Spend 3 minutes listening to one of Chicago’s weatherman sing about the winter to Let it Go!  It’s cute!  Click here to enjoy!

I’ve been slacking and not around nearly as much during dinner time the last few weeks but tonight I have a green curry experiment going into the crockpot.  If it turns out good I’ll post a recipe!  Seems like my crock pot has been saving me in this extended winter.  What have you been cooking in your crock pot?  Share your favorite recipe below!!  Would love to hear what’s keeping you guys warm!

I’ve got several giveaways lined up for you that I know you will all love!!! I’ve had quite a few deliveries over the last week and can’t wait to share.

Has your winter been extended?  How are you pushing through?  What keeps you going?

I have taken some of my favorite casserole dishes and finished them off in the crockpot on high for a few hours instead of baking them in the oven. They tend to work out just as well. If the recipe calls for browning the top with breadcrumbs or cheese, I will pop the crock (mine is removable) under the broiler at the very end. I have also done this with pot roast recipes too.

This is my first winter in a Midwestern state. I’m an Alabama native, so I am Miserable with a capital “m.” I’ve been making a lot of chilis to stay warm. Current favorite is chocolate chili from Melissa Joulwan. I highly recommend it!

  4. I didn’t know about the virtual 5 in 5. THanks for the tip, going to start now!
I need to work on my 14 in 2014 goal & have done NADA yet.

  5. Oh my goodness, I hear you about the weather. This weekend I went for a run in 12F weather and then was bitching about “what did you do this?”. So ready for summer or at least warmer weather. As for crockpot recipes my favorite is lamb stew. By the time its done you have a hearty dish that will warm you up!

I have made many versions of chili in the crock pot this year – pretty much done with all of that!
I agree – thankful to have a nice treadmill so that I can run without leaving the house in this weather.

i just had to post that “let it go” parody on my facebook; it’s too funny! i finally relented and realized that winter isn’t going to be gone by my race next week and bought a long sleeve, warm running top.

I may never complain about the summer hear and humidity ever again. I did one 20* run this winter and haven’t been outside again. I am truly grateful for our treadmill but I am twitching at the thought of a other long run on it 🙂

I had too much curry lately. I am running at the moment to work all that curry fat off. I really like running during the winter. It is not the best for my ankles, but it is a nice change of scenery from the scorching hot summer.
